As one of the series of CUBE’s 60th anniversary celebrations, the 2nd international cultural festival held grand opening at CUEB square on October 16th. Students from more than 29 countries showcased the globe cultures.
School party secretary Feng Pei, deputy party secretary Sun Shanxue, vice president Xu Xiaofang, and 10 presidents from foreign universities and more than 20 presidents of domestic universities attended this festival. All the guests visited the world’s booths, tasted the exotic cuisines, watched the art shows and had cordial conversation with all the international students. Trying on the traditional costume from different countries, tasting the delicacies and participating in various interesting activities, the festival attracted a large number of alumnus, students and international guests to experience the vigorous international atmosphere.
From 10am, the CUEB square was a little “World Expo”, 42 decorated booths neatly arranged on the square. The booths not only displayed the traditional delicacies from the globe, but also had exquisite handicrafts, such as the African wood carving, Morin khuur. The beautiful traditional dresses from different countries especially caught eyes. Fruit carving from Thailand booth stunned all the audience. Students queued up for the name writing in Farsi offered by Afghanistan booth……Through a variety of customs and cultural exchange activities, the international festival vividly reflected the cultural characteristics of different countries and regions. 12 Chinese student groups were invited to participate in the event. The students carefully arranged the booths and enthusiastically presented the traditional Chinese culture.
On the CUEB stage, students gave excellent performances during the cultural festival. 11:30am, a dynamic dance from Korea not only presented the beauty of CUEB’s goddesses but also opened the curtain of the international cultural show. Subsequently, students from Cameroon and Japan brought exotic songs for the audiences. Students from South Pacific islands gave a tropical dance. The high point of the performances was a stunning catwalk show, which students dressed up traditional costumes to display their culture. The International students from Beijing University of Technology, University of Science & Technology Beijing and Beijing International Studies University brought wonderful dances and songs to all of us. Chinese Kungfu performance and graceful dances from CUEB students presented Chinese traditional culture’s rigidity and flexibility. International student Bai Fei’s song “I Love You China” was the end of the cultural show.
As an important part of the 60th anniversary celebrations of CUEB, the second International Cultural Festival was the epitome of school’s international development. Not only showed the international vision of our school, open and pluralistic campus culture, the International Cultural Festival but also built a platform for mutual understanding between Chinese professors and international students. It was a friendship bridge of cultural exchange between China and the globe.
