School of International Launches Lectures on “Chinese Culture”

Lecture of Chinese Calligraphy was given in Library's room 503 in the afternoon of June 7th and it was the first part of "Chinese Culture" series which was launched by school of International Education. Mr. Dou Wanxing, the Calligrapher and painter, delivered the way to write a large seal script of Chinese character "福"with a brush pen. Another Calligrapher and painter, Mr. Yang Shishun, introduced the Chinese painting techniques to draw plum blossoms. More than 20 international students from Russia, The Republic of Cape Verde, Japan, Korea and Laos attended this lecture and completed their works. Both teachers and students were surprised and delighted that the very beginners were able to write Chinese character with brush pen and paint plum blossom within one hour and half. The Lecture series were welcomed by all the international students and professors. They were looking forward to the next activity.

 

To acquire the knowledge about traditional Chinese culture and improve the aesthetic ability of the East, School of International Education established 2017 Lectures on "Chinese Culture" (LCC), which include Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese painting, seal cutting, paper-cut, clay sculpture and martial arts. The LCC as one of the initiatives of “Attraction Promotion Project of International Education” aims to enrich the international students' school days, make students appreciate the traditional Chinese arts and feel the charm and connotation of oriental culture. As the cross-cultural communicators, international students not only spread the Chinese culture, but also bring the CUEB learning experience to the rest of the world.
